Warsaw Boars

Australian Rules Football is becoming more popular overseas, with local leagues being developed across the globe by fans of the sport. After the introduction of the Polish national team to play in Europe, a Polish league was created. The Warsaw Boars was formed as Warsaw’s second Australian Rules Football team and were in need of a logo to represent them.

The call was put out online to designers to create a mark that the team could use in competition. Their blue and yellow colour scheme had already been decided and they needed an identity that motivated the players, made them look and feel like a serious sports team and help promote the sport of Aussie Rules in Poland.

Boars are seen as an aggressive animal, so it was important to establish a sense of fierceness in the design. This was done through the eye contact with the viewer and the angled brows. The angles helped to hide a subtle W in the forehead of the boar.
